The thoughtful gift of a cast iron cooking grate sparked the inspiration to build something the cabin desperately needed, an outdoor fire pit that doubled as an open flame grill. This way no one was ever left out while tending to a gas grill and everyone could participate in the casual cooking with a front row seat. If we only knew then what that simple gift of a cast iron grate from Pu00e9pu00e8re would evolve into…The original prototype for the fire pit cooker was constructed of a large, steel truck tire rim as the fire pit, with a steel vertical pipe bolted to the side and the cast iron grate attached to that. It wasnu2019t perfect or pretty, but it sure was a conversation starter with a ton of potential. After over a decade of use and innovation, trial and error, tweaks and opinions that one-of-a-kind fire pit has evolved into what we are now proud to call the Original Sherman Cooker, an heirloom product capable of being passed down from generation to generation.
